Privacy
Repy is a private reputation service you use by text message. This page explains what we hold, why, who can see it and what you can ask us to do. Avdience Ltd is the controller of the personal data described here.
When you text Repy
- Your phone number. We store it encrypted, with a keyed fingerprint so we can recognise you. Your number is how Repy knows the message came from you.
- The messages you send and the replies Repy sends, encrypted. People operating Repy see a preview with phone numbers reduced to their last four digits.
- The numbers you ask about, stored the same way, and a record of each check: when it happened, whether reputation existed and whether you unlocked it.
- If you unlock a result: the payment status, amount and our payment provider’s references. Card details go to our payment provider and never reach Repy.
Reviews and the people who write them
A review is linked privately to the phone number it came from, so we can stop abuse and ask about a review if it is challenged. We never show a reviewer’s number or identity to the person reviewed or to anyone who checks them. We keep the original words privately as evidence and show people a structured summary, not the review itself.
People who have never used Repy
You can have reputation on Repy before you have ever used it, because someone reviewed you. We hold your number encrypted and the reviews about you. Someone who checks your number and pays sees a summary: how many reviews, whether people would date you again and what was mentioned. Never a reviewer’s identity, and never a score. You can ask to see what we hold about you, challenge a review, or object to being included, by writing to privacy@repy.to.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you ask for when you text Repy or unlock a result (performance of a contract).
- To operate a reputation service, keep it safe and prevent abuse, including holding reviews about people who have not used Repy (legitimate interests, weighed against the interests of the people reviewed).
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
We do not ask for, and do not publish, health, sexuality, criminal or other special category information. Reviews can only say things from a fixed list of ordinary signals; anything serious is held back for a person to look at. Today every review is checked by a person before it is shown.
Who else processes it
Our providers process data for us under contract: our messaging provider (to send and receive texts), Stripe (to take payments), Vercel (to host this site and the service) and our database host. Some are in the United States; transfers rely on the UK’s approved safeguards. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Only as long as we need it to provide Repy, handle disputes and meet legal obligations. Specific retention periods will be set out here before Repy launches.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it moved. Write to privacy@repy.to. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. Text STOP to Repy at any time and it will not message you again.
